9 March 2010 AE1 Association Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the AE1 Association will be held at the Coorparoo RSL Club immediately following the SAA QLD
General Meeting on Sunday 11 April 2010. Any SAA Members who wish to attend will be welcome. You will also be able to join
the AE1 Association at this time if you wish, but it is not a requirement.

9 March 2010 DFWA Submission to the Senate Committee enquiring into proposed changes to the Military Superannuation
Board
DFWA strongly contends that military superannuation schemes require a Board and management structure that is separate
from, and is seen to be separate from, Board and management structures applying to the Commonwealth’s civilian
superannuation schemes.

In a letter to Rob Woolrych (SAA QLD Inc. Vice President), Les comments that "
As previously advised the matter is scheduled to
be heard by the Repatriation Commission on 27 September, 2009. There is nothing more that I can possibly do to advance the
resolution of this issue until after the 27 September hearing.  Please rest assured that all action has been taken to speed the
resolution of the matter noting that Dr Kelly now has ‘Ministerial’ responsibility for the work of the Nature of Service area in
Defence."

Submariners Recognised For Bravery
Three Australian submariners have been awarded Bravery Medals by the Australian Bravery Decorations Council for their
extraordinary efforts to rescue shipmates who had been washed overboard in bad weather during a night operation. The
medals were announced today by Her Excellency the Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia.

Local MP with a copy to Minister Griffin and Shadow Minister Markus. Naturally, if you are not happy with the form of the letter you
are most welcome to alter it as appropriate to reflect your own way of expressing your feelings.
